We
are doing good deeds. Summit Missions
International is a 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization.
As a nondenominational
Christian mission it is committed to being an ambassador
of hope and help. Through relief products, service
projects and international partnerships SMI demonstrates
God’s love in action.
We
are committed to assisting the local church. Christ
said He would build His church. SMI believes there
is a biblical basis for relief and ministry to
the poor. As the goods are distributed, recipients
can be pointed toward God, His love for them and
their need for a personal relationship with God
through Christ. The Church can serve as a conduit
for disseminating physical help with spiritual
hope and then follow up on the needy in their communities.
We
are using donated community resources. Donations
of products and finances to SMI are tax deductible
in accordance with prevailing tax guidelines. Relying
on these donations from the community, SMI sorts,
packs, loads and ships containers of products for
distribution primarily in Eastern Europe. A container
is forty feet long, eight feet high and wide and
can hold up to 42,000 pounds of products.

We
are operating in a cost effective way. Container
shipping costs can be as high as $18,000 depending
on its destination and cargo. An average cost is
normally between $8,000 and $14,000 without any products
inside. SMI is able to fill and ship a container
of products at a significantly lower cost. Because
SMI is a mission with the goal of collecting and
sending helpful products, it operates without profit
and endeavors to cover actual expenses. Normally
SMI cargo is shipped for less than .22 per pound
for delivered products. We do this by utilizing
donated resources, donated labor and reduced shipping
costs available to us through our network of partners.
We
have dedicated and responsible partners. SMI
has a corps of volunteer workers who are committed
to helping others. Additionally, our criteria for
shipment and distribution require registered consignees
who receive the goods and insure their distribution
to credible recipients. We are pleased to have
reliable partners who meet all standards for proper
distribution.
